All students will take GCSE Mathematics.
What Will I Study?
Students will build upon skills and knowledge from Key Stage 3.
Topics covered include:
- Number
- Algebra
- Ratio & Proportion
- Geometry
- Statistics
Students will need to bring a scientific calculator, ruler, compass and protractor to all lessons.
What Skills Will I Develop?
Think mathematically - ability to apply their knowledge to a range of contexts
- Independence
- Problem solving – make logical first steps
- Analyse and interpret data
- Accuracy
How will I be Assessed?
- Students will sit the Higher or the Foundation paper. For both tiers there are 3 exams at the end of Year 11.
- Students can gain grades 1 to 5 if sitting Foundation
- Students can gain grades 4 – 9 if sitting Higher
- Each exam is 1 hour and 30 minutes long.
- Paper 1 is non-calculator.
- For Papers 2 and 3 calculators are allowed.
