To celebrate World Book Day staff committed whole-heartedly to dressing up as their favourite literary characters. NLS was transformed overnight and played host to the worlds of Dr Seuss, Percy Jackson’s Camp Half Blood and friends from The Hundred Acre Wood. Legend has it that even an Oompa-Loompa, The Mad Hatter and Captain Hook were spotted on site! On Wednesday evening (March 13) 70 students showcased their wonderful talent and passion for dance at the annual Dance Recital.
An audience of over 200 were treated to a range of styles by students across Year 7 to 12 who are members of our Dance Club, Dance Leaders and those who study Dance.
There were a range of styles performed including Contemporary, Street and Jazz from BTEC assessment work to extracurricular clubs and students’ own choreographed pieces.
All the dancers involved, along with our two student technicians backstage, were so professional and enthusiastic during the show.
It was fantastic to see all their hard work and creativity come to light in the performance.
See you again next year!
A huge congratulations to our Year 7 football team who won the League title and a place in the District Cup Final following their most recent win.

In support of National Apprenticeship week, last week subject teachers shared video clips in lessons as part of our promotion of apprenticeships being an option post 16 and post 18.
The clips showed information and real life apprenticeship stories linked to subject areas.
In addition to apprenticeship information we cover as part of their careers curriculum this was a real opportunity for students to learn more about apprenticeships as a future pathway option.
Year 12 and Year 13 students in Tutor Time students explored what was available through discussion and online material. Some attended the Ricoh Arena event last week in order to explore myriad opportunities available to them in various industry sectors. On their return they reported how positive the experience was.

The Computer Science Department is launching its next CISCO Networking Academy course … Introduction to Packet Tracer.
Deepen your understanding of how a network works, and step into the virtual lab to build your own! With Cisco Packet Tracer, you can watch how data travels across your network using Simulation Mode, or practice setting up your own device rack and cables in Physical Mode. Once you are ready, expand your simulations to analyze network traffic, add Internet of Things (IoT) devices, integrate Python code, or practice network automation skills.
New to networking? No problem. Cisco Packet Tracer enables a suite of tutored activities that give you hints along the way, if you want them.
In January we welcomed 30 external education and employer providers to support our annual Careers Fair for Year 10 and Year 11 students.

As an ambassador, their role is to help educate their peers on bullying behaviour, lead on anti-bullying campaigns, promote a culture which celebrates and tolerates difference, and help keep their peers safe both online and offline.
