As I write my final parent bulletin of my time at North Leamington School it has been a great opportunity to reflect on not just this term but the past year and a half with a fantastic group of young people. This term has been long and action packed and it has been wonderful to see so many students engaging positively in and out of the classroom over the last four months.

  • Year 9 Update - Autumn 2

    Published 18/12/23

In Year 9 we pride ourselves on offering a balance between a pursuit for academic excellence alongside personalised pastoral care, ensuring that our students take all opportunities to support their happiness and wellbeing. Year 9 is a very special year for students. With skills and understanding in place from year 7 and 8, this is the year when choice and independence become increasingly important in their learning journey. The continuation of developing their intellectual character from experiences both inside and outside the classroom is vital, and as such a variety of opportunities are made available to the students. We are so very proud of Year 9s who are a fantastic calibre of students that are intrinsically motivated, charismatic and superb leaders. They epitomise what the character and culture of school really is, demonstrating our CORE values every day.

As we reach the end of another eventful half-term, it is a great opportunity to reflect upon and celebrate the progress Year 11 students are making. With two sets of mock exams under their belts, along with Year 11 Subject Evening, and the recent release of Data 1, students will have a clear idea of the progress they are making and where they can continue to improve. It has also been great to see a wide range of students engaging positively with all aspects of school life, including students taking part in the Winter Music Concert, our Remembrance Service, extra-curricular clubs, as well as attending charity events such as NLS Does X Factor.

Year 7 have made a wonderful start to North Leamington School.  Students have made the challenging transition into secondary school life really well and are now fully integrated into our school community. It was lovely to see so many parents/carers that were able to join us for the Year 7 Information Evening on Monday 16 October. Answers to a few FAQS that came through the questionnaire were sent out last Friday and I hope are useful.

  • Year 10 Update - Autumn 1

    Published 25/10/23

Year 10s return to school has been brilliant. The Year 10 team are really pleased that the majority of students are wearing their uniform to a high standard, have a positive attitude towards their learning and are engaged in their KS4 options, particularly their RE GCSE and BTEC options where they will be sitting mock exams this year before terminal exams in the Summer. The students have now sat their first RE mock exam and we were really pleased with their attitude during this. Students were well-prepared prior to the exam and it was fantastic to hear their positive responses on Wednesday following on from this.

As we reach the end of the first half term I would like to commend all of Year 8 for the growing maturity I am seeing from them in all aspects of school life. No longer being the youngest students in school is a great opportunity to step up and act as role models to our new Year 7 students and I am really proud of the progress displayed by the year group as a whole.
