Religious Education
Intent
- Studying RE will enable students to explore, and engage with, life’s ultimate questions – considering their own opinions towards topics as well as a range of religious perspectives.
- We aim to provide learners with the skills required to become reflective and critical thinkers who have the confidence to challenge and respect beliefs and practices that impact their lives and the lives of others.
- We hope through the study of RE that we develop well rounded learners who have a real sense of open mindedness and tolerance with a desire to celebrate the differences of others.
- Ultimately we want to develop a climate where students to enjoy the subject and see the relevance of it in their every day lives.
- Develop critical thinking skills to be able to challenge and respect ideas and views contrary to their own
- Develop skills of analysis and evaluation through their written and verbal responses
- Develop the ability to construct well-argued, well-informed, balanced and structured written arguments.
- Develop confidence in debating and presenting ideas and viewpoints
- Develop the ability to communicate effectively with people from all walks of life as we live a diverse society.
