Year 8 Basketball Team Bronze Medal Success at Jr NBA Finals
Congratulations to our Year 8 Basketball team who have won a bronze medal at the Jr NBA Finals. The team travelled to Nottingham to compete after qualifying for the finals by finishing top of their league, of five teams where they were unbeaten, and progressing through the last 16 and quarter-final games.
In a closely fought semi-final, where the lead changed throughout the match six times, the boys lost 44-37 to the eventual champions from Leicestershire.
Despite their disappointment, they showed their spirit in approaching the third/fourth place play-off brilliantly and won against Nottingham Academy by 40 points to secure the bronze medal, to go with their District title, and wrap up the season with a win.
The PE Department, on behalf of us all at NLS, would like to say a huge congratulations to the students for their success. This season they have all played fantastically well with great sportsmanship, determination and skill.
