Huge congratulations go to North Leamington Girls’ U13 Football Team, who have been crowned champions of the Mid and South Warwickshire District Cup, following a superb 2-0 win over Stratford High in the away final last week. As they raised the trophy high above their heads, to wild applause from the crowd, the team reflected on their journey since their first training session in September.

Throughout the season, each player has shown tremendous dedication and fabulous team working skills, resulting in them going from strength to strength and beating Myton, Southam, Kenilworth and Studley schools, taking them all the way to the final.

Despite strong opposition in this final match, our midfield soon started to dominate, but the goals simply didn’t come. But this team gives its all to the very end and every player shows strength and determination. In the final minute, Izzy R latched onto a loose ball to fire into the top corner, with Elsa adding a well-taken second in stoppage time. A big well done to the whole team!
