Information and Support
This section is concerned with identifying the range of support available to students in Sixth Form. It also details support for opportunities post-18
Pastoral Support
It is important that students at North Leamington Sixth Form are supported pastorally, as happy and healthy individuals are more likely to thrive and achieve their goals.
The tutor system in Sixth Form allows for a supportive, nurturing environment, where tutors get to know the students in their groups, offering individual tailored support with their wellbeing.
This is supported with the tutor time curriculum, which covers a variety of topics and life skills, including boosting positive mental health & wellbeing, and giving students tools and strategies to cope with an ever-changing environment.
You can read more details of the Sixth Form Tutor Curriculum and view the Tutor Time Learning Journey. Sixth Form students are also allocated into one of our five Colleges (Binswood, Blackdown, Croft, Manor and Park)
Wellbeing Wednesdays
Wellbeing Wednesday is a weekly timeslot dedicated to equipping students with skills and knowledge they may use now or need in the future to help either themselves or any friend or family member to contend with challenges life may present.
Attendance, Study Support and Welfare Officer
The role of the Attendance, Study Support and Welfare Officer is to complement all the work done by the Tutor Team, other internal providers, peers and parents. Pastoral support is available to students by offering appropriate advice, signposting relevant agencies or passing on as required.
Our Attendance, Study Support and Welfare Officer works with nominated students wherever a referral need is identified. These referrals can come about from multiple sources. For example:
- Student self-referral
- Parental referral
- Staff referral - normally arising from either data or observations of wellbeing
Our Student Support area on our website contains further information.
Academic Support
Our Attendance, Study Support and Welfare Officer also provides valuable academic support to students. Working collaboratively, with the Head of Sixth Form, academic mentoring and intervention is provided to ensure that all students achieve the very best outcomes. Through mentoring and welfare meetings students are supported to help build resilience.
Learning Environment
We have an excellent range of facilities at NLS that help our Sixth Form students to achieve their potential. Our two dedicated Sixth Form Study Rooms provide a high-quality learning environment for students. These study rooms are both large and fully equipped for students to use during study periods and before and after school. Students can also work in our school library.
The Sixth Form Common Room and Mezzanine areas are another space students enjoy to work in, and to socialise, and can also make use of their own Sixth Form café which serves a range of barista coffees ranging from Americanos to mochas and iced lattes along with a selection of sweet and savoury items and hot and cold food.
Sixth Form Dress Code
Details of the Sixth Form Dress code can be viewed in the Uniform Policy.
Financial Support - 16-19 Bursary
A Bursary Fund is available to students who may need financial support. This is means-tested. It can be used to support with study resources, clothing and transport, for example.
You can read here our 16-19 Bursary Policy

Student Leadership
Opportunities for Student Leadership are available in Year 12 and in Year 13
We have two Year 13 Senior Student Leaders, who take on a range of responsibilities throughout the year. Working alongside our Senior Student Leaders are six Assistant Senior Student Leadership roles.
You can read further information in the Student Leadership area of our website.
