Careers

Welcome to NLS Careers - The Flightpath to the Future.

Vision Careers Logo

Our vision is to provide students with inspirational, diverse and dynamic experiences of the full range of education   and training opportunities, and to develop the qualities, standards and skills they will need to make successful decisions about the flightpath to their future, so that all students have a positive destination, and successful careers.

Implementation

North Leamington School is committed to the delivery of high quality Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) to ensure our young people are empowered to make informed decisions and can access jobs that suit their talents and aspirations. We put the government’s statutory guidance on careers guidance and access for education and training providers to schools at the very heart of our provision to increase social mobility by opening students’ eyes to careers they may not have considered.

Impartial Advice and Guidance (IAG)

Our impartial information, advice and guidance (IAG) is out-sourced through a local careers company, Careers Seekers Direct (CSD.) CSD has achieved the Matrix Standard (Department for Education's standard for ensuring the delivery of high-quality information, advice and guidance.) In 2021, CSD were also awarded an initial Licence by the Quality in Careers Consortium to assess and accredit schools for the national Quality in Careers Standard. NLS is currently committed to working collaboratively with CSD to achieve this award.

Careers Curriculum

Promoting a careers culture throughout the school is an essential part of the ethos of our school and aims to support the understanding, skills and experiences that our students need to make progress and succeed in learning and the world of work.
The curriculum and experiences are designed to inform, build aspiration, and inspire students.
Key to this experience is the integration of careers within subject curricula so that we can reflect its centrality to students’ future prospects.
More detailed information about the Careers Curriculum Learning Journey can be found Careers Curriculum Learning Journey

Provider Access

We strive to forge links with local education, training and employment providers so that students learn from employer/employee experiences, recruitment processes, are exposed to a range of employment jobs in different sectors and learn about the variety of different qualifications that can help them on the flightpath to their future.

Currently we have over 40 local establishments who support around 15 annual internal school events across Y7-Y13. There are also a range of additional external opportunities.
