Celebrating World Book Day
It’s been another wonderful World Book Day for NLS. There were a whole host of literary characters on sight today. The reception team went spotty with 101 Dalmatians, Maths brought to life the search for Where’s Wally and English took students on a journey into the worlds of Julia Donaldson with the likes of the Gruffalo, Zog and Stickman. A chocolatey prize was given to the Science department who abandoned their chemical bonds for James Bond for the day. Rumours also circulated that Peter Pan was also on a visit from Neverland!
Students had plenty of literary activities to enjoy throughout the day. In English, students were gifted with a World Book Day voucher. This voucher can be used in participating bookstores where students can swap their £1 token for one of the title books (or audiobooks) that are participating this year.
Students also completed a game of literary Pictionary where they had identify the titles of some popular young adult novels.
In tutor time, college groups competed to guess the books based on some clues given to them. It was a tough competition, but the winners were:
- Park - 7PK01
- Blackdown - 7BD01
- Croft - 8CT01
- Binswood - 8BW01
- Manor - 9MR01
Over in sixth form, Mr Taylor led an assembly and awarded Holly B (Thing 1), Grace P and Rebecca H (Mr Bump and Little Miss Chief) for their fantastic costumes.
Happy Reading everyone
