This term has been extremely eventful for our Year 8 students. I am pleased to welcome a couple of new members of our year team. It is incredibly pleasing to witness how much charisma, confidence and commitment they are already displaying during lesson time. They have appeared to have settled in well and adhered to the school ethos, demonstrating those CORE attributes.
As Year Leader of such a highly motivated group of individuals, it is my job to ensure that they all have high aspirations and therefore are passionate to succeed. Taking into consideration their average Attitude To Learning (ATL), it is evident that the majority of pupils are demonstrating a positive work ethic and coming to school prepared to learn. I am also pleased that pupils within Year 8 continue to ‘SHINE’. It is extremely satisfying to be a leader of a College in which a plethora of pupils are ‘Supportive, Honest, display Integrity, Never give up and are Enthusiastic. It is these key characteristics that will enable them to become a well rounded individual. I have such a fantastic calibre of pupils within my College who demonstrate superb leadership skills and therefore, there is no reason why we won’t continue to ‘SHINE’ at North Leamington School.

Tutors
I want to take this opportunity to thank your child’s Tutor. These members of staff have proved to be very supportive towards their tutees and are extremely proactive in ensuring that your child is given every opportunity to participate and contribute in the Tutor curriculum. Our aim is to give them the skills they need to be a leader.

Rewards
I am pleased to announce that Year 8 have managed to achieve the most ‘Reward Points’ in the entire school.  Ahead of the next leading year group by over 3000 points! This demonstrates the dedication and commitment Year 8 students display in and out of lessons. This is a fantastic accomplishment. It was pleasure to have the opportunity to celebrate those students that had been awarded the highest points in the year group. Fifty Year 8s enjoyed 90 minutes of a cinema experience. Popcorn, chocolate and a great Christmas film was provided; it was a lovely atmosphere.

Top 10 pupils with the most Reward Points
I am extremely proud of all Year 8 students however, the pupils below have managed to work well in the majority of lessons, displayed leadership and exceptional progress. I applaud you all.

Christmas Jumper Day - Save the Children
On Friday 9^th December Year 8s joined the millions of people up and down the country that came together – to make the world better with a sweater. We had a significant number of year 8 students that supported this good cause by either wearing a festive jumper or donating £1.

Inter-College Sporting Events
This term has seen an array of sporting competitions take place. Year 8 students have competed against other Colleges in both Football and Netball. The pupils were a credit to their College and themselves each displaying superb team work skills as well as demonstrating a supportive side to their personality. Despite the adverse weather conditions the football and netball teams showed resilience and perseverance. This is an aspect of my job that I thoroughly enjoy. It is an opportunity for all pupils to participate regardless of their ability and enjoy the opportunity to compete against other colleges in a fun and friendly manner. Marley Ashfield represents the Year 8 during our Remembrance Service
The service saw approximately 1,500 students and staff congregate as a whole school to reflect, contemplate and remember the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community from Britain and the Commonwealth along with young men from our school. Marley assisted by placing the wreath by our school memorial.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Year 8 Hall of Fame - Alex MacDonald
Alex is a member of the Racing Club Warwick Football Team who won the Coventry and Warwickshire League Cup Tournament. Alex has  also been offered a county trial for the under 13s at Leicestershire County Cricket Team. Finally, Alex was one of 15 boys that represented Warwickshire in the National Cross Country Championships in Leicester.

Message to Parents and Carers
I just want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support this academic term. I hope that you feel your child has been given the guidance and support to achieve, but more importantly, to enjoy school life.
