It has been amazing to see so many students getting involved with the variety of different clubs and fixtures that have been available this term. Our clubs have been well attended with fantastic sportsmanship and behaviour along with fantastic results.  Our newest club, Volleyball, has proved hugely popular and we are delighted to now be able to offer this additionally to Year 9 students.  Alongside our sporting clubs, 114 students have signed up to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme we are able to offer here at NLS, which is a record number.

Of special mention are the three teams from NLS that competed at the National Squash Championship with one of our teams coming first and qualifying for the next round! Paulina S (Year 8) and Maisie C 's (Year 9) selection to represent the U14 Warwickshire Schools Football team this academic year; a brilliant achievement for both girls and four students took part in the Warwickshire Schools U18 Team Table Tennis Championships.  You can read more about these achievements in the half term reports for all of our sports clubs.

We are proud to congratulate Shingai, Sanjeev, Jeevan and Daria for completing their CISCO Internet of Things (IoT) Certification.
The Computer Science Department launched the  CISCO Networking Academy course back in September.  It introduces students to the concept of a network foundation connecting billions of things and trillions of gigabytes of data to enhance decision making and interactions.

The next certificate will be available at the beginning of 2023 so please keep an eye out on the website Latest News’in January. You don’t have to be a Computer Science student to sign up to the CISCO courses, you just have to be interested in the topic area, want to try something new and be able to work independently (approx. 20 hours of self-study.)

    KS3 Update
In Year 7 students have been creatively responding to traditional Greek Mythical creatures as well as creating their own. Also, in the final week of this term students have participated in the International Schools Project where they will start designing their own spy character which will be sent to our partnership school in India.

Year 8 have turned their hands to non-fiction writing. Students have been writing letters, speeches in response to prejudice/ discrimination within our society. During Christmas week students had a taste of Media as they worked to create their own chocolate bar campaign/ pitch.

At the start of next term, Year 8 will be embarking their study of ‘The Tempest’. To kick start this, students will take part in a workshop which will introduce them to the setting, characters and/or themes of the play. We hope that this will ignite their enthusiasm for one of Shakespeare’s most magical and wondrous plays.

    NLS Careers Fair

We were delighted to be able to host over 30 local and national education establishments and employers as part of our Careers Fair for Year 9-11 on 15th November. Each student received a booklet with brief information about each provider and were tasked with finding out a little more about them. We are very much hoping that the encounters will help them to start thinking more about what they would like to do when they leave school.

  • Year 10 Update - Autumn 2

    Published 25/11/22

Year 10 students continue to build upon their positive start to Year 10 as they are beginning to manage the challenges and pressures of their GCSE subjects which they demonstrated superbly in the recent mock RE exam. It was really pleasing to see a large number of pupils engage in the revision sessions put on by their RE teachers and this attitude will stand them in good stead in the future when other subjects present similar opportunities. It has also been great to see a wide range of pupils engaging positively with all aspects of school life, with a number of students taking part in the Winter Music Concert, our Remembrance service, the College Sports Football and Netball Event as well as attending the ‘NLS Has the X Factor’ charity event.
